The Line: Rhode Island Rams -5 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
Both the Duquesne Dukes and Rhode Island Rams will look to snap four-game losing streaks when they battle it out on Saturday afternoon.
The reason the Dukes are in a funk is because their offense is shooting just 38.9 percent from the field and averaging 63.4 points during their last five games. The offense hasn’t been great all season long, but those numbers are even worse than their season averages. Defensively, teams have been shooting 45.4 percent from the field and averaging 71 points. Despite the struggles, they are 7-5-2 ATS overall and 4-2-1 ATS on the road.

The Rams have been playing fairly well, but they just can’t seem to catch a break. In their last five games they’re shooting 47.9 percent and averaging more than 71 points, while the defense allows 75.6 points on 44.7 percent shooting. Not great, but those numbers are good enough to put some W’s on the board. They are 11-9 ATS and 4-4 ATS at home.
The Rams are a different team on their home court, as they average 71.4 points and allow just 65 points. The defense actually shows up and has led to two wins in their last three tries. The one home loss in that span was a last-minute win by Massachusetts. The Dukes are 4-5 SU on the road and allow 46.8 percent shooting in road games.
Rhode Island has been playing better basketball as of late and will have the home crowd in support. Freshman guard E.C. Matthews, who has scored 20 or more points in four of his last five games, will also be the best player on the floor for either team.
I’ll take Rhode Island and the chalk.
