The Duke Blue Devils travel to Georgia Tech to play the Yellow Jackets on Tuesday night.
The Duke Blue Devils improved to 20-5, 9-3 ACC after beating Maryland at home 69-67 on Saturday. On the season, Jabari Parker leads the Blue Devils with 19.2 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. Rodney Hood is averaging a solid 16.5 points per game, while Quinn Cook is averaging a team-high 5.2 assists per game. Amile Jefferson is averaging 7 points and 6.8 rebounds per game and has really helped Duke improve their rebounding numbers as the year has gone on. The Blue Devils are averaging an impressive 82.2 points per game while shooting 47.5% from the field as a team this season. Duke’s biggest weakness early on was the lack of size in the front court and their inability to rebound the basketball. What was once their weakness has become somewhat of a strength recently as they have outrebounded several of their conference opponents. Duke will have to play four games in the next week and they will start with back-to-back games on the road. The Blue Devils are 3-3 on the road this season.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets improved to 13-12, 4-8 ACC after beating Boston College at home 74-71 last Thursday. On the year, Trae Golden is averaging a team-high 13.4 points and 3.1 assists per game. Marcus Georges-Hunt is averaging a second-best 12.2 points per game, while Daniel Miller is averaging 8 rebounds per contest. The Yellow Jackets are averaging only 67.5 points per game while shooting 43.4% from the field as a team this season. Georgia Tech is an average rebounding team, pulling down 36.3 boards per game. The Yellow Jackets had dropped two straight and six of their last eight overall before earning the win on Thursday. Georgia Tech will be at home for this game on Tuesday; the Yellow Jackets have lost four of their last five home games dating back to mid-January.
Duke should have no problem coming away with the win on the road on Tuesday night. However, I don’t know if I can back the Blue Devils giving a bunch of points on the road, considering they may need to lay off the gas in order to save energy for their busy week of games. The Yellow Jackets could hang around in this one if Golden can make some plays early. Having said all that, Duke didn’t play well on Saturday so I think they will come out focused on Tuesday and they will win big.
