The Central Michigan Chippewas hope to escape the MAC basement when the Ball State Cardinals visit.
When trying to figure out where Ball State has gone wrong this year one only has to look at their scoring or lack there of. It's tough to win when averaging less then 64 points which places tremendous pressure on the defense. One got away from the Cardinals in a 66-64 loss to visiting Bowling Green on Saturday as 39% shooting and 16 giveaways spoiled a fantastic 10-21 performance from long range. That made the Falcons 44% accuracy a winning number with most other areas even enough. Jesse Berry gave the offense 20 points on six bombs followed by Chris Bond and Franko House with 13 points each.

Central Michigan shares the basemet with Ball State although we could make the argument that that the Chippewas have played their schedule tougher but that hasn't translated in to winning which is the ultimate measuring stick. CMU dropped an 83-75 decision at Kent State for loss number three in a row. This one was never really all that close with the Golden Flashes leading throughout and the visitors never able to cut in to a nine point halftime deficit. Kent State dominated the shooting battle 60%-44% and that was all that was needed to secure the victory. Chris Fowler recorded 19 points and five steals followed by the duo of Blake Hibbitts and Braylon Rayson with 12 points each while John Simmons chipped in with eleven.
The winner escapes the conference basement fot the time being and I automatically gravitate to the home team until I see the spread although the line seems right. This series has been dominated by the home team so who am I to go against this trend since I don't have a strong edge otherwise...
