The Line: Rhode Island Rams +2.5 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Rhode Island Rams will look to snap a five-game losing streak when they host the St. Joseph’s Hawks on Wednesday.
The Hawks have won four of their last five games and are quickly gaining attention from the rest of the conference. During this little hot streak that they’re on, they’re averaging 65.2 points and allowing 63.2 points. They haven’t allowed more than 65 points in three straight games. In their most recent win over La Salle, all of their starters scored in double figures. They are 11-8-1 ATS overall and 7-3 ATS on the road.
The Rams just can’t catch a break anymore, losing five straight and falling towards the bottom of the conference standings. During this losing streak, they’re averaging 67.8 points on 46.1 percent shooting, but are allowing 77 points on 45.7 percent shooting. They’re also averaging just 28.2 rebounds per game and knocking down just 65.3 percent of their free throws. Sometimes it’s just the little things. They are 11-10 ATS overall and 4-5 ATS on their home court.
The Rams are a lot tougher to beat at home, but there’s no reason to back them with the way they’ve been playing lately. They beat themselves with poor free throw shooting, they aren’t rebounding and their defense has slipped. The Hawks are playing with extreme confidence and are 5-1 ATS in their last six road games.
The road team is also 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings between these two teams and the favorite is 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings.
I’ll back the Hawks and the small chalk.
