The Arkansas State Red Wolves square off with the Texas-Arlington Mavericks in a Sun Belt tilt.
Texas Arlington won't sniff the Sun Belt championship but at 6-6 with six games remaining in the regular season a top four finish is certainly within their grasp. The Mavericks have won back to back games following a 69-62 decision over visiting Texas State on Saturday as UTA proved capable of winning a slow one. Both teams connected in the 45%-46% range and combined for 31 turnovers with the Bobcats sinking a few more baskets but the Mavericks winning with 23-9 edge at the stripe. Regar Dowell paced the scoring with 23 points on 4-6 from distance with Brandon Edwards adding 18 points and 12 boards. Lonnie McClenahan tossed in 13 points and snagged seven boards while Jamel Outler chipped in with 12 points.

Arkansas State currently occupies fourth in the conference but they are just one loss out of second in a very tight race with only Georgia State heads and tails above everyone else in first. The Red Wolves had second in the standings right within their grasp as winners in four of five before their defense was no where to be found in an 85-67 loss at Louisiana-Lafayette on Saturday. The Ragin'Cajuns won this with superior shooting by sinking shots at 52.5% in contrast to the Red Wolves 41% which turned out to be ten more FG for the home team. Kendrick Washington and Melvin Johnson III provided a solid one, two punch for the offense with 19 points each with Edward Tounsel adding 13 but production was tough to find otherwise.
Arkansas State is by far the better squad and should win but Texas-Arlington has been playing better. I'm inclined to take a shot with the points and hope the Mavericks avoid getting blown out...
