The Line: Marshall Thundering Herd +1.5 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Marshall Thundering Herd will host the UAB Blazers Thursday night at the Henderson Center.
The Blazers have lost four of their last five games, including an 86-80 shootout with Tulane. They’re putting points on the board, as they’ve dropped at least 71 points in three of their last four games. The problem is defense, as they’ve allowed at least 78 points in three of those contests. It’s been the story for this team all year, as they average 75.7 points and allow 71.8 points. On the road, they score 71.4 points and allow 77.6 points. They are 9-12 ATS overall and 5-5 ATS on the road.

The Thundering Herd recently snapped a three-game losing streak on the road against the Charlotte 49ers. In the 59-56 victory, they held the 49ers to 35.5 percent shooting and forced 15 turnovers. Although they haven’t won much, defense has remained a top priority as of late, holding teams to no less than 68 points in their last five games. At home, they average 73.2 points and allow 70.8 points. Freshman guard Kareem Canty is coming off a 21-point performance. They are 8-12 ATS overall and 3-5 ATS at home.
Both teams are more than capable of putting the ball in the hoop, but this game is going to come down to which team wins the rebounding battle. The Blazers average 45.3 boards per game, while the Thundering Herd snag 37.3 boards per game. Second chance opportunities will be big in this game.
And while the Thundering Herd may have home court, the Blazers have won five of the last six meetings SU. They’re also 4-0-1 ATS in the last five meetings, while the road team is 6-1-1 ATS in the last eight meetings.
I’ll take UAB as a small road favorite.
