The Georgetown Hoyas look to get back in the win column with a road visit to Seton Hall Thursday at 9PM on CBS Sports Network.
Georgetown saw their four game winning streak come to a crashing halt this past weekend as the St. John’s Red Storm ran the Hoyas off the court quickly. Georgetown fell behind 15-0 quickly and never got close in the 82-60 loss. The Hoyas got little contribution from their front court -- something they had started to improve on during their win streak. Only three starters reached the scoring column with D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera’s 15 leading the way. Markel Starks had just 1 assist at the point guard spot and the Hoyas were a dismal 3-13 from deep. Georgetown will need to bounce back with a win at Seton Hall if they want to keep their NCAA hopes alive with the conference season winding down.
Seton Hall has had more than a week off to prep for this contest. The Pirates fell to the Red Storm as well but in much more dramatic fashion as a pair of late St. John’s free throws secured the 68-67 defeat for the Pirates. Fuquan Edwin led the way with 25 points but no other Pirate starters reached double figures. Patrik Auda was strong off the bench with 15 and 6 boards but the rest of the Hall’s reserves had just 5 total points. Seton Hall finished the game 4-20 from deep and 11-18 at the line -- good for 61.8%. The loss drops the Pirates to 4-8 in conference play and 13-12 overall.
Seton Hall came away with their first win in 14 years at Georgetown a few weeks back. The Hoyas have been playing better but reverted back to their struggling road ways against St. John’s this past weekend. I expect this game to be close but like Fuquan Edwin to be the difference as he and Sterling Gibbs lead the Pirates to the cover and win at home and send Georgetown to a firm spot in the middle of the pack in big east play..
