The Green Bay Phoenix welcome rival Valparaiso to the Resch Center in Thursday night Horizon action.
Valparaiso guarantees themselves a top four finish in the Horizon with a win in one of their three remaining games with second place a definite possibility. It seems that the loss of talent from a season ago has been over come and their really hasn't been the rebuilding process to endure. The Crusaders won for the fourth time in five outings after outing Milwaukee 77-62 as a small road favorite. This one was never really in doubt as a nine point lead at the break slowly grew behind 51% from the field to easily outdistance the Panthers 31.7% mark. LaVonte Dority led Valpo with 19 points followed by a 14 point, eleven board effort from Jordan Coleman while four others added between 8-9 points.

Green Bay appears to be in the driver's seat in the Horizon with an 11-2 mark and a two game lead over second place Cleveland State with three games to play. The Phoenix had been winning albeit not as impressive as most would have liked but that changed with a 68-54 road rout of the Vikings on Saturday that was never competitive. GB was up 13 at the half and held serve over the final 20 minutes with nearly 49% shooting leading the way with a 20-7 edge at the charity stripe thrown in for good measure. The Vikings were limited to 31% from the floor which negated a hefty 25 more looks at the basket. Alec Brown and Keifer Sykes were a formiddable one, two punch with 18 points each with Brown posting nine boards while Greg Mays tossed in 15.
Green Bay was at their very best in routing a solid Cleveland State squad last time out so the question is whether the same team shows up. No and Valparaiso can cover. Yes and the Crusaders should stay on the bus...
