The Line: Siena Saints +4.5 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds

TV:

Storyline: The Manhattan Jaspers eye seven consecutive victories when they square off with the Siena Saints at the Times Union Center Friday.

The Breakdown: Manhattan sits 1.5 games behind conference-leading Iona and the two appear headed for a showdown that could determine who wins the MAAC. But that Jaspers need some help as the Gaels own the tie-breaker by virtue of having won their first matchup. Manhattan scored a decisive 75-61 victory over Monmouth Wednesday behind a game-high 31 points from senior G George Beamon that included 6 of 8 from outside the arc. The Jaspers also got 12 points and 8 rebounds from senior C Rhamel Brown, and 12 points off the bench from junior F Emmy Andujar. Manhattan outshot the Hawks from the field 51.9 percent to 39.3 percent and from distance 42.9 percent to 30.0 percent. On the season, the Jaspers are averaging 78.3 ppg on 44.7 percent shooting. Beamon leads the team with 20.0 ppg, followed by senior F Michael Alvarado at 12.8 ppg.

Meanwhile, Siena dropped to 7-9 for 7th place in the conference after suffering a 92-88 triple overtime loss to Canisius Sunday, its second straight. The Saints shot 43.3 percent from the floor and connected on 9 of 27 from outside the arc to the Golden Griffins’ 44.3 percent from the field and 5 of 25 from downtown. Siena finished with a 40-32 advantage on the boards, but committed a whopping 21 turnovers. Junior G Rob Poole scored a game-high 33 points, including 6 of 11 from distance, sophomore F Brett Bisping had 16 points and 9 rebounds, and sophomore G Ryan Oliver added 12 points off the bench. Through 27 games, Siena is averaging 70.1 ppg on 42.4 percent shooting. Poole leads the team with 15.3 ppg, followed by Bisping at 10.2 ppg.

Rick’s Pick: Manhattan is currently a 4.5 point favorite in this one and the Jaspers put a 22-point hurtin’ on Siena at home a little over a month ago. It should be a little closer this time, but the MAAC just seems destined to come down to one last game between Manhattan and Iona so they won’t falter here. Look for the Jaspers to cover.
