The Line: Southern Miss Golden Eagles -6.5 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
A matchup between the UTEP Miners and Southern Miss Golden Eagles will be one of the more underrated college basketball games on Saturday’s schedule.
The Miners have won 10 of their last 11 games and are 6-1 SU on the road. In their last five games, they’re averaging 69.2 points on 52.3 percent shooting and allowing 58.4 points on 38.6 percent shooting. They’ve been on a serious roll at both ends of the floor and that hasn’t changed on the road. Away from home, they average 65.1 points and allow just 57.4 points. They are 16-5 ATS overall and a remarkable 9-1 ATS on the road.

The Golden Eagles just snapped a two-game losing streak with a win over Texas-San Antonio. They played like the team we’ve seen for much of the year, shooting 52.5 percent from the field and holding the Roadrunners to 27.3 percent shooting. They’re now shooting 47.8 percent from the field in their last five games and averaging 70 points, while the defense is allowing 68.4 points on 44.6 percent shooting. At home, they average 75 points and allow 58.2 points. They are 15-8-1 ATS overall and 8-1 ATS at home.
This game is a real toss-up, as the Miners have been money on the road and the Golden Eagles have racked in the cash at home. Either team could win this game, which is why I’m forced to go with the points. The Miners are 11-1 ATS in their last 12 road games against teams with a winning home record and are 12-3-1 ATS in their last 16 road games.
I see this game coming down to the wire, with UTEP having a good chance of pulling off the road victory. In that case, I’ll gladly take the road warriors and the points.
