Third in the AAC is on the line when the Southern Methodist Mustangs visit the Connecticut Huskies.
I don't know if the rigors of the AAC schedule have begun to wear on Southern Methodist but they have struggled in back to back contests in a loss to Temple and a narrow victory over visiting Houston as a 14 point favorite. The Mustangs simply could not pull away from UH despite a 45%-39% advantage in marksmanship as well as an 18-12 edge at the foul line. Nic Moore was the only double digit scorer with 16 points with Shawn Williams, Ben Moore and Ryan Manuel each scoring eight points. Southern Methodist put ten players on the floor and each found the scoring column.

With the end of the regular season not to far away the goal for Connecticut is to go in to the conference playoffs red hot and then wreak some havoc. So far, so good with the Huskies notching win number four in a row in a 68-55 victory at Temple. The Huskies used 45% shooting to take an eight point lead at the break and slowly wore the Owls down over the final 20 minutes. On the flip side the generally capable offense of Temple struggled to 34% from the floor while getting outscored at the charity stripe 22-12. Shabazz Napier did everything with 17 points, 12 rebounds and seven helpers while Ryan Boatright and DeAndre Daniels netted 14 and 13 points followed by a ten point effort from Amida Brimah.
I think Connecticut is playing the better of the two so my immediate thoughts are the Huskies at home. The chalk gives me second thoughts...
