The Line: New Mexico Lobos -11 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The New Mexico Lobos will look to keep their momentum going when they host the Utah State Aggies. These teams played about a month ago and New Mexico won 78-65.
The Aggies are back to coming up short, as they’ve lost their last three games. They’re struggling putting the ball in the hoop and aren’t playing much defense. In just their last five games, they’re averaging 66 points on 44.4 percent shooting and allowing 68.8 points on 43.8 percent shooting. They’ve topped 70 points only once in their last three games and are now 3-8 when falling to reach the magic number. They average 62.6 points and give up 67.3 points on the road. They’re also 13-11-1 ATS overall and 5-6 ATS on the road.
The Lobos have won three straight and nine of their last 10 games. They’re coming off their biggest win of the season in a 58-44 victory over San Diego State. In the win they shot 50 percent from the field and held the Aztecs to just 32.3 percent shooting. They’re shooting a lights out 48.9 percent from the field and allowing just 38 percent shooting in their last five games. At home, they average 76.7 points and allow 65.2 points. They are 12-10 ATS overall and 5-5 ATS at home.
Usually this is a great time to fade the home team, as the Lobos are in a major letdown spot after their biggest win of the year. But I don’t see that with them, as they appear to be a team that’s only getting better with the tournament approaching. The Aggies have been the complete opposite and are 3-6 SU on the road.
The Lobos have covered their last four games and are 7-1 ATS in their last eight games following a SU victory.
The chalk is a little steep, but New Mexico is a quality team that should get it done.
