The Line: Massachusetts Minutemen -12 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
For the second time this month, the Rhode Island Rams and Massachusetts Minutemen will clash on the hardwood. UMass won the previous meeting 73-68.
The Rams just snapped their six-game losing streak with a victory over St. Bonaventure. In the win, they shot 50 percent from the field and grabbed 40 rebounds. That’s not exactly Rhode Island basketball, as the offense is shooting just 43.8 percent from the field on the season. On the road, the Rams average 65.4 points on 42.3 percent shooting and allow 73.2 points on 45.2 percent shooting. They are 13-10 ATS overall and 8-5 ATS on the road.

The Minutemen have won four of their last five games, including back-to-back wins over George Washington and VCU to put them back near the top of the standings. During this stretch, they’re averaging 75.8 points on 47 percent shooting and allowing 72.4 points on 40.8 percent shooting. Chaz Williams has gone nine straight games with at least five assists. At home they average 81 points and allow 71.3 points. They are 16-10 ATS overall and 6-6 ATS on their home court.
Rhode Island was able to keep things close in the earlier meeting, but playing in UMass is a completely different story. The Minutemen are 11-1 SU on their home court, while the Rams are 3-10 SU away from home. UMass has covered four of its last five conference games and Rhode Island is just 2-8 ATS in its last 10 meetings against the Minutemen.
Expect UMass to put on an offensive show like it has pretty much all season and pull away with a solid victory that covers the spread.
Give me the Minutemen and the chalk.
