The Toledo Rockets visit the Northern Illinois Huskies hoping to retain their grip on the top spot in the MAC.
Toledo and their high powered scorinng machine have forged a first place tie with Western Michigan atop the MAC with a handful of games left so there is no room for error. The Rockets survived a second half charge from Ball State to win 85-74 on Sunday behind the best offense in the conference that hit the visiting Cardinals with 56% from the field to simply outgun the 46% shooting visitors that ao committed 16 turnovers. Julius Brownled the scoring with 20 points and seven helpers followed by Nathan Boothe and Justin Drummond with 17 points each and eleven boards while JD Weatherspoon and Rian Pearson tossed in 14 and 13 points.

There is more parity in the MAC then we have seen in awhile with a few teams looking more competitive then in recent years. Northern Illinois is one of those teams that has a real chance to move up the standings in the final weeks of the season. The Huskies did miss out on an oportunity Sunday as a rally from a seven point deficit fell short in a 70-67 defeat at Central Michigan. With both club hitting shots in the 43% range, the Chippewas eleven bombs and the Huskies 16 turnovers are numbers that stick out. Aaric Armstead was the Huskies best scoring option with 19 points and seven yanks with Darrell Bowie adding 14 points and seven pulls while Daveon Ball and Jordan Threloff combined for 18 points with Threloff grabbing ten rebounds.
The team that controls the pace increases their chance of winning with a fast pace favoring Toledo while Northern Illinois wants a snail's pace. Hopefully this one is slow and the Huskies make some shots...
