The Southern Illinois Salukis visit the McLeod Center to take the floor with the Northern Iowa Panthers.
Southern Illinois doesn't have a very good overall record but they have forged an 8-8 mark in the Missouri Valley which is good for a four way tie for third with two to play so there is zero room for error. The Salukis have won back to back contests following a 61-56 decision at Evansville despite an uneven offensive effort. SIU sank shots at 35.8% and gave the ball away 16 times but survived the 44% shooting Purple Aces because of a 19-7 edge at the line. Anthony Beane Jr. tossed in a game high 22 points followed by Desmar Jackson with his 15 points, eight boards and five steals.

Northern Iowa is in the same boat as their counterparts with an 8-8 conference mark with two games remaining so the loser is in a bit of trouble. The Panthers have been playing well with wins in three of four following a 72-59 victory over visiting Illinois State on Sunday. UNI wasted no time jumping on the Redbirds with a 16 point lead after 20 minutes behind solid 47% shooting which included a 10-24 mark on threes and near perfect 16-19 at the charity stripe. The defense limited ISU to just 41% and defended the perimeter well with 7-21 from long range allowed. Seth Tuttle paced the offense with 18 points and bine boards with Matt Bohannon tossing in 14 while Nate Buss and Jeremy Morgan netted 13 and ten points.
This is essentially a playoff game and the key for Southern Illinois not falling behind because I don't think they are built to play catch up. I don't think these teams are worlds apart but I do believe the Panthers win but hopefully within the number...
