The Georgetown Hoyas visit the Bradley Center to face the Marquette Golden Eagles Thursday night at 9PM on Fox Sports One.
The Hoyas currently sit at 16-11 and 7-8 in conference play as they try to get on a late season run to salvage their NCAA tournament hopes. The Hoyas got back in the win column this weekend with a convincing 74-52 win over a solid Xavier team. The Hoyas were led by Markel Starks’s 22 points and 4 assists and Starks also fueled an efficient offensive showing for Georgetown. They finished with 18 assists to just 3 turnovers. The Hoyas also won the rebounding battle and shot the ball 52% from the floor and 41% from deep. While the game was never in doubt, Georgetown still managed 20 team fouls -- something they have been prone to do all season long.

Marquette also sits at 16-11 on the season but sports a winning record in conference play. The Golden Eagles most recently got a win over DePaul in a surprising, offensive shootout 96-94. Davante Gardner and Todd Mayo combined for 41 points off of the bench and Jamil Wilson added 18 and 9 boards from the swingman slot. Marquette shot a whopping 39 free throws and were able to knock down 28 of them -- a key stat in their clinching win late. Davante Gardner alone knocked in 12-16 at the line -- Gardner continues to be one of the best FT shooting big men in the nation week to week.
Georgetown has been wildly inconsistent on the road and while Marquette has split their past two games, they have been solid offensively. Given their strong home court advantage and ability to score the ball of late, I think the Golden Eagles are a no-brainer for the cover and win at home here behind another strong game from Wilson and Gardner.
