The Morehead State Eagles can move a step closer to locking up third in the OVC by knocking off Tennessee State.
Tennessee State is tied for last in the Ohio Valley thanks to their roster being depleted of a load of talent that nade this a top four team a year ago. Despite the numbers the Tigers have played their conference schedule reasonably well although the defense has been a problem more often then not. Having said that, the defensive end of the floor played well in a 66-61 loss to visiting SIU-Edwardsville with the lone difference being the Cougars sank more free throws to secure the win. Patrick Miller paced three DD scorers with 23 points and six rebounds followed by a 16 point, eleven board effort from MJ Rhett while Chaed Wellian contributed 12 points and five yanks.

With just a pair of games left to be played Morehead State can't move up the Ohio Valley standings but could drop down so there is no room for error. The Eagle saw their opportunity to inch up to second go by the wayside with a 69-58 defeat at Murray State that put an end to a four game winning streak. The Racers jumped out to a 17 point lead after 20 minutes and the Eagles never got their feet under them with 42% shooting unable to keep pace with the home teams 51% accuracy with a 4-21 performance on threes killing Morehead State. Angelo Warner tried to shoulder the offensive load with 18 points followed by a 14 point, nine pull effort from Chad Posthumus while Drew Kelly added nine points and seven boards.
Tennessee State has improved from the beginning of the year when they were simply awful altough there is plenty of room to get even better. If the improved Tigers show up a cover is not out of the question but if the bad one takes the floor it will be a rout...
