Bowling Green heads out on the road to deal the playoff positioning of the Akron Zips a blow.
If Akron was as productive at scoring the basketball as they are at defending, this could easily be a top four team. The Zips have been consistent at the defensive end but putting the ball in the basket has been an issue. Akron has dropped three in a row following a 65-61 defeat at Miami (Ohio) where a seven point Redhawks lead at the half held up. With both teams connecting in the 38% range the only area that stood out was the Redhawks +6 at the line. Deji Ibitayo scored 14 points followed by a 12 point, eleven rebound efort from Demetrius Treadwell while Nyles Evans tossed in nine.

Everything I said about Akron with their scoring and defense can be applied to Bowling Green who has even more offensive issues. The Falcons score and allow around 63 points so their MO is to slow things down to a crawl and at the end of 40 ninutes hope their opponents are held below 65 points. BGSU enjoyed a scoring explosion of sorts when they upended Kent State 73-66 by limiting the Golden Flashes to 35% shooting while countering with 47% themselves. Jehvon Clarke was the offensive star with 21 points, eight boards and five helpers with Richaun Holmes adding 14 points and ten boards while Spencer Parker and Caneron Black netted 12 and nine points respectively.
Akron has generally faired well in this match up but 2013-14 has an odd feel to it for Zips basketball. They could certainly win big here but I'm still taking the points...
