The Dayton Flyers are searching for a marquee win when they host the Massachusetts Minutemen on Saturday.
The Minutemen have won three games in a row and five of their last six. During this stretch, they’re averaging 74 points on 44.1 percent shooting and allowing 72.4 points on 42.6 percent shooting. They’ve also limited their turnover margin to 13 per game, which is one less than their season average. On the road, the Minutemen average 72.4 points and allow 69.7 points. They are 16-11 ATS overall and 10-4 ATS on the road.

The Flyers had their six-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday against the St. Joseph’s Hawks. In the loss, they shot just 31.7 percent and allowed the Hawks to knockdown 58.3 percent of their shots. It also snapped a seven-game streak where the Flyers haven’t allowed 70 or more points. At home, Dayton averages 72.8 points and allows 63.5 points. They are 13-11 ATS overall and 5-6 ATS at home.
The Flyers need this win to not only add an impressive victory to their resume, but to build some momentum heading into the Atlantic 10 Tournament. The Flyers have been playing solid basketball at both ends of the floor, but that St. Joseph’s game really came out of nowhere.
Although the Minutemen have won three straight and playing how they were in the first half, they can be very inconsistent, especially in the turnover department. There’s been several games where they’ve turned the ball over 15 or more times, which isn’t good against a Dayton defense that forces 14 turnovers at home.
The home team is 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings between these two teams.
I’ll take Dayton and the small chalk.
