The Michigan Wolverines have won their last two games and four of their last six as they sit in first place in the Big Ten standings. The Minnesota Golden Gophers are coming off of a big win over Iowa and many feel they have a legitimate shot at making the NCAA Tournament. Minnesota is 7-9 in the Big Ten, 4-8 away from home, and 3-6 against teams ranked in the top 25. Andre Hollins leads the Golden Gophers averaging 14.8 points per game. Deandre Mathieu is averaging 11.9 points, Austin Hollins is averaging 11.4 points and 5.8 rebounds, and Malik Smith is averaging 9.0 points per game. Minnesota is averaging 72.2 points and they are shooting 44.6 percent while defensively they are allowing 67.9 points and their opponents are shooting 42.3 percent. Minnesota has the number four strength of schedule and a 42 RPI and that could be enough to get them in the big dance.
Michigan is 6-2-1 against the spread in their last nine home games, 0-5 against the spread following a win, and 6-1-1 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the point spread. Minnesota is 2-5 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the spread, 5-13 against the spread in their last 18 road games, 1-4 against the spread following a win. The underdog has covered the point spread in the last six meetings of these two.
My free pick in this one is going to be on the total and it is a lean to the over. I have a stronger play on who will cover the spread and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
