The South Carolina gamecocks and the Kentucky Wildcats face off on Saturday in Columbia in a SEC college basketball matchup.
The South Carolina Gamecocks have lost three games in a row and they are tied for last place in the SEC standings. South Carolina is 3-12 in the SEC and 8-6 at home this season while going 0-1 against teams ranked in the top 25. Brenton Williams leads the Gamecocks averaging 14.7 points per game. Sindarius Thornwell is averaging 13.4 points, Duane Notice is averaging 7.6 points, and Michael Carrera is averaging 6.4 points and 5.7 rebounds. South Carolina is averaging 69.4 points and they are shooting 42.2 percent while defensively they are allowing 71.1 points and their opponents are shooting 44.3 percent. South Carolina faces Florida next so an upset home win I this one or against the Gators would be a huge highlight to an otherwise miserable year.

The Kentucky Wildcats are coming off of a home upset overtime loss to Arkansas that all but ended their hopes of winning the SEC this season. Kentucky is 11-4 in the SEC and 6-5 away from home this season. Julius Randle leads the Wildcats averaging 15.7 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. James Young is averaging 14.4 points, Aaron Harrison is averaging 13.6 points, and Andrew Harrison is averaging 11.3 points. Kentucky is averaging 77.8 points and they are shooting 46.2 percent while defensively they are allowing 67 points and their opponents are shooting 39.7 percent. UK is a lock for the NCAA Tournament but where they end up being seeded is still a question mark.
South Carolina is 6-2-2 against the spread in their last 10 home games, 5-1 against the spread against a team with a winning percentage better than .600, and 1-4 against the spread following a loss. Kentucky is 4-1 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the spread, 3-11-2 against the spread in their last 16 road games, and 1-4 against the spread against a team wit a losing record. The favorite has covered the point spread in five of the last six meetings of these two.
Kentucky has to be salty but focused after Thursday’s loss and look for them to come up big here.
