The Oakland Golden Grizzlies hope to end the season on a positive note at Youngstown State Saturday.
Oakland and their high powered offense looked to be clicking in their Thursday night match up with top ranked Green Bay after taking a 44-31 first half lead. However, it was all downhill from there with the Phoenix dominating the second half on the way to a conference clinching 71-63 decision. GB burned the nets with 58% shooting with the Golden Grizzlies hanging tough with 46% accuracy and six more looks keeping this competitive. Duke Mondy was the high scorer with 17 points with six steals followed by a 14 point, eight pull effort from Corey Petros.

Youngstown State might be the tough luck team in the Horizon with numerous close defeats that would undoubtably had this team in the top four if several had been winners. The Penguins have dropped back to back contests by a combined three points after a 70-69 overtime loss at Cleveland State on Tuesday. This was high scoring considering both sank shots in the 37%-39% range with the Penguins doing their damage with eleven threes while the Vikings nailed 19 free throws. Kendrick Perry and Ryan Weber poured in 17 points apiece with Perry snagging nine boards while Kamren Berry added 16 points and eight pulls followed by a ten point, 17 rebound effort from Bobby Hain.
Youngstown State is the better squad but have played things very close so the question is whether a poor road team like Oakland can stay close. I might like the total here but neither team are dependable cover teams...
