The Iowa Hawkeyes and the Purdue Boilermakers face off on Sunday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in a Big Ten college basketball matchup.
The Iowa Hawkeyes have lost three games in a row and have sunk to fifth place in the Big Ten standings. Iowa is 12-3 at home this season and 8-7 in the Big 10. Roy Devyn Marble leads the Hawkeyes averaging 17 points per game. Aaron White is averaging 13.4 points and 6.8 rebounds, Melsahn Basabe is averaging 8.0 points and 6.2 rebounds, and Mike Gesell is averaging 8.0 points. Iowa is averaging 83.6 points and they are shooting 47.2 percent while defensively they are allowing 69.6 points and their opponents are shooting 40.2 percent. Iowa will need to regain their form as they will almost certainly be out of the national rankings in the next poll.

The Purdue Boilermakers have lost three games in a row and four of their last five and they are tied for last place in the Big Ten standings. Purdue is 5-10 in the Big Ten and 3-9 away from home this season. Terone Johnson leads the Boilermakers averaging 12.1 points per game. Ronnie Johnson is averaging 11.2 points, A.J. Hammons is averaging 10.4 points and 7.1 rebounds, and Kendall Stephens is averaging 7.9 points. Purdue is averaging 72.9 points and they are shooting 42.7 percent while defensively they are allowing 71.3 points and their opponents are shooting 42 percent. Purdue travels to Wisconsin for their next game before closing out their regular season against Northwestern.
Iowa is 9-3 against the spread following a loss, 38-17 against the spread in their last 55 home games, and 10-3 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the spread. Purdue is 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 games, 1-4 against the spread in their last five road games, and 10-28-1 against the spread following a game that they covered the spread. The home team has covered the point spread in nine of the last 10 meetings of these two.
This is simply way too many points and my pick here is that the Boilermakers get the cover.
