The Line: Marshall Thundering Herd -4 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Marshall Thundering Herd could snap a three-game losing streak when they host the East Carolina Pirates on Sunday.
The Pirates head into the matchup winners of three straight and four of their last six games. They continue to shoot a high percentage but have turned to their defense as of late to get in the win column. They usually allow 72.2 points on 45.7 percent shooting on the season, but are allowing just 64 points on 42.4 percent shooting in their last five games. They haven’t allowed a team to score more than 68 points in their last four games. However, their struggles have come on the road, a place where they average 69.8 points and allow 75.4 points. They are 9-11-2 ATS overall and 5-5-2 ATS on the road.

The Thundering Herd have lost seven of their last nine games and have quickly fallen to the bottom of the C-USA standings. Just in their last five games, they’re averaging 60.4 points, which is 13 points less than their season average. They haven’t scored 70 or more points in seven straight games. Defensively, they’re allowing 63.6 points on 41 percent shooting in their last five contests. They average 70.8 points and allow 69.5 points at home. They’re 9-14 ATS overall and 4-6 ATS at home.
Not sure how the oddmakers came up with this number, but the better team in this matchup is the underdog. Sure, the Pirates are 3-7 SU on the road this season, but they’re also one of the better offensive teams in the country and has recently turned up their defensive pressure. Marshall, well, it’s a team that can’t wait for the season to end.
East Carolina is 4-0 ATS in its last four conference games, while Marshall is 2-6 ATS in its last eight home games.
