Reitz Arena and the Loyola (MD) Greyhounds host the Lafayette Leopards in a Patriot playoff opener.
Lafayette began the conference slate lowly before picking it up and losing consecutive contests to end the year. The final numbers say the Leopards have been outscored 74-71 on the season but both numbers have been high in Patriot action meaning the offense has struggled to score at times while the defense has generally performed better then it shows. The scoring potential of Lafayette is very good with five players averaging in double figures with Seth Hinrichs leading the way with 16 points and six rebounds so theoretically this a dangerous offensive team on paper.

It's been something of a strange season for those of us that have followed Loyola-Maryland as they were a major player in the MAAC the past few years but have struggled in their first season in the Patriot. The Greyhounds have been outscored 71-65 and that has been a huge factor in the team's struggles over the final few months that have prodused defeats in eight of ten to close the season. The offensive woes are more serious then what we see on paper with one of the top scorers in the conference in Dylon Cormier out for the remainder of the year with a broken hand and taking 21 points and nearly six pulls with him. The question is can the four players averaging between 7.6-8 points step up and give the opposition problems at the offensive end.
If the Greyhounds can slow this down and frustrate the Lafayette scoring potential anything can happen. If the Leopards get a head it will be tough for Loyola (MD) to win but I think either side is tough to depend on...
