The American University Eagles host a quarterfinal match up with Colgate at Bender Arena.
On paper it seemed Colgate owned a sizeable advantage over Navy in the opener of the Patriot League poseason but on the court it was a different story as the ten point favored Raiders edged last place Navy 57-51. It was win number four in a row but it wasn't pretty with Colgate owning a 40%-35% shooting edge with the decisive 16-5 advantage saving the Raiders. Damon Sherman-Newsome paced the offense with 16 points on 4-8 from the floor with Ethan Jacobs and Luke Roh adding ten points each and 14 rebounds.

Second seed American received a bye in to the Patriot League quarterfinals where they host Colgate Wednesday. The Eagles were the exact opposite of most teams in the conference with their controlled half court attack where they looked for the high percentage shot while keeping the scoreboard managable. AU didn't look great down the stretch as they began the conference slate 10-0 before ending the year at 3-5 and all but giving away the conference title. The good news in this stretch is the defensive end of the floor continued to perform well but the scoring tailed off and that can't happen with little margin for error. Jesse Reed and Tony Wroblicky combine for 26 points and eleven boards with both hitting at well above 50% and both have to produce or AU is in trouble.
American split the season series with Colgate but didn't really stand out. Based on what I saw from Colgate vs. Navy I give the Eagles an edge but don't have the greatest feel for this..
