The St. Francis PA Red Flash and Bryant Bulldogs will meet Wednesday in the first round of the NEC Tournament. These teams played back on January 9, and the Bulldogs won 77-67.
The Red Flash are even lucky to be in the tournament with a 9-20 overall record. Their offense is one of the worst in the country. They finished the regular season averaging 62.2 points on 41.1 percent shooting, and they allowed 70.2 points on 47.1 percent shooting. They’ve failed to score more than 60 points in four of their last six games and have only one player averaging more than nine points per game. Needless to say, they’re not expected to hang around for very long. Luckily, this is their first game of the season that has a line.

The Bulldogs have lost four of their last six games, but did more than enough previously to earn a decent seed in the tournament. They average 73.8 points on 47 percent shooting and allow 73.1 points on 43.6 percent shooting. They’re a fast-paced team that plays quickly, and has four players that average at least nine points per game. ATS, they are 2-2 this season.
This game really doesn’t need much explanation, as the Red Flash are really in this tournament by default. The rest of the conference was so bad that they found a way to sneak in. They don’t score, don’t rebound and their defense has also been inconsistent throughout the year.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are an offensive machine and have been lights out on their home floor, racking up an 11-3 SU record. They average 75.1 points on their home court.
It’s a lot of chalk for a tournament game, but this matchup should be a breeze. Expect a win by least 15 points.
