The Longwood Lancers take the floor with the Gardner-Webb Bulldogs at the HTC Center in a Big South postseason opener.
There isn't a whole lot that can be added to Longwood's body of work except to say opponents score far too many points which is the reason the Lancers are 3-13 in the Big South. Longwood has been outscored 80-70 and have dropped nine of ten to close the year. The offense has shown flashes but the defense hasn't meaning neither have been on the same page with double figure defeats being common. Assuming the defense is not going to suddenly become airtight, plenty of scoring will be needed. There is potential to score with four DD scorers with Tristan Carey the top gun at over 18 points and and more then six boards but will the others come up big.

The Big South could be considered a conference of the haves and have nots with Gardner-Webb finishing in a four way tie for fourth with a 10-6 mark. The averages say the Bulldogs score around 73 points but as the season was coming to a close the offense was becoming more potent. After starting the conference slate at 0-2, G-Webb has gone 10-4 with wins against virtually every team with a winning record. If the Bulldogs are to continue to enjoy success Jerome Hill will be laeding the way with his 14 points and eight rebounds leading the way. With two others posting DD in points and an eight man rotation there has to be some help for their star.
Gardner-Webb has not blown many teams out although Longwood is one of the few they have. I think a lot that goes on here is whether the Bulldogs simply want to get the win and move on or they punish the Lancers. I see no reason to punish them but it could happen anyway if Longwood doesn't show up...
