The Presbyterian Blue Hose have a date with the Radford Highlanders to open the Big South tournament.
Presbyterian has been in struggle mode since joining Division I basketball and 2013-14 has proven to be no different. Not enough offense and way too much scoring from opponents as the Blue Hose have been outscored 76-65 which won't win too many games. It hasn't this year with the team last in the conference at 2-14 with defeats in six of seven to close the season. How does Presbyterian defy the odds? They must play their best and hope their opponents are off their games because anything less is not going to cut it. Having said that, if Jordan Downing (19.8 ppg) has a career day and a few others follow his lead anything can happen.

Radford can thank one of the bigger offense in the conference for their fourth place finish and their 20-11 overall record. The Highlanders won't win many defensive battles and will struggle if the shots are not falling but you have to like their chances in a shootout. The Highlanders ended the year going 6-2 with at least 82 points scored in the victories so they will enter the postseason looking to press the pace which most teams won't mind and then attempt to light up the scoreboard. Javonte Green leads four DD scorers with 17 points and eight rebounds with on 55% shooting so the offense will go through him.
Let me start by saying there will be no upset here unless Radford doesn't show up. The Blue Hose have to be at their best just to keep from getting waffled although they covered for me a few times in last season's postseason. I would need more points to bet them this time because Radford is pretty good but no play for me...
