The Line: Texas Longhorns -21 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
Storyline: Texas targets sole possession of second place in the Big 12 when they welcome slumping TCU Wednesday.
The Breakdown: The Longhorns dropped to 10-6 and sit in a three-way tie with Iowa State and Oklahoma for second place in the conference after a 77-65 loss to Oklahoma Saturday. Texas topped the Sooners from the floor 44.4 percent to 40.7 percent, but struggled from outside the arc, connecting on 3 of 19 to OU’s 10 of 25. The Horns finished with 40-32 rebounding edge, but committed 16 turnovers. Sophomore C Cameron Ridley scored a team-high 19 points to go along with his game-high 14 rebounds, junior F Jonathan Holmes had 11 points and 5 boards, and freshman G Isaiah Taylor added 10 points and 5 assists. Through 29 games, Texas is averaging 75.6 ppg on 43.5 percent shooting. Holmes leads the team with 13.2 ppg, followed by Taylor at 12.7 ppg.

Meanwhile, TCU is down to its final two chances at recording a conference win this season after dropping its 16th straight in an 81-59 thumping at West Virginia Saturday. The Horned Frogs connected on 20 of 51 from the floor and 2 of 9 from outside the arc to West Virginia’s 27 of 63 from the floor and 7 of 20 from downtown. TCU also gave up a 44-29 advantage on the glass and committed 13 turnovers. Freshman C Karviar Shepherd scored a team-high 14 points, senior G Jarvis Ray had 13 points and 13 rebounds, and junior G Kyan Anderson added 10n points and 3 assists. On the season, the Horned Frogs are averaging 63.7 ppg on 40.7 percent shooting. Anderson leads the team with 16.6 ppg, followed by junior F Amric Fields at 13.1 ppg.
Rick’s Pick: The line in this matchup is currently set at -21 for Texas and it’s hard not to feel for TCU at this point. They had a couple games there where a win seemed like it could be forthcoming, but then the Frogs reverted back to getting pummeled by everyone. The Longhorns were one of the few Big 12 teams that didn’t blow TCU clean out of the water, coming away with a narrow 59-54 road victory a month ago. This is one of the Frogs last chances at a league “W” so look for, at least, a closer game than the spread.
