The Line: Florida Atlantic Owls -5 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Florida International Panthers and Florida Atlantic Owls will end their regular seasons with an in-state rivalry. These teams met back on January 25, and the Panthers won 66-57.
Since then it’s been all downhill for the Panthers, a team that’s lost seven of their last 10 games. Just in their last five it’s clear where the struggles have been, as they’re averaging 67.6 points on 43 percent shooting but are allowing 70.2 points on 46.7 percent shooting. This is a team that prides itself on defense, as 12 of their 14 wins have come when holding the opponent under 70 points. On the road, they average 69.4 points and give up 77.2 points. They are 11-11 ATS overall and 5-7 ATS on the road.

The Owls are looking to end a five-game losing streak, as they’ve been in a serious scoring funk. While they’re not known as a great offensive team, they’re averaging just 59.4 points on 38.5 percent shooting during their losing stretch. That’s far worse than their season averages. In the game against Southern Miss, they shot just 29.6 percent from the field. Defensively, they’ve allowed 69.4 points on 43.1 percent shooting during the streak. At home, they average 67.1 points and allow 65.4 points. They are 12-13 ATS overall and 5-5 ATS at home.
This game really comes down to whether or not FAU senior guard Pablo Bertone plays or not. I’m assuming he will considering it is senior night. If he plays, I’m backing the Owls and the chalk. They have to get back on track eventually and FIU is the perfect opportunity.
The home team is 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings between these two teams. I’ll take the home team in a heated in-state rivalry.
