The VCU Rams and Richmond Spiders will square off Thursday in what should be a highly entertaining Atlantic 10 matchup. These teams met back on February 1, and VCU won 81-70.
The Rams have been a little shaky as of late, splitting their last six games, but they are coming off a monster home victory over the Saint Louis Billikens. In the win, they forced 17 turnovers and had three of their five starters score in double figures. They’re holding teams to just 27.9 percent shooting from beyond the arc in their last five games. On the road, the Rams average 73.5 points and allow 71.1 points. They are 14-13 ATS overall and 8-7 ATS on the road.

The Spiders have lost three of their last four games and have fallen into the middle of the pack in the standings. In their last five matchups, they’re averaging 62.4 points on 38.9 percent shooting and are allowing 65.4 points on 43.2 percent shooting. They are coming off of a road loss to Rhode Island where they made only 21.1 percent of their shots. The good news is that those numbers improve at home, a place where they score 68.6 points and give up 62.1 points. The Spiders are 12-15-1 ATS overall and 6-7-1 ATS at home.
I believe getting five points for Richmond is an absolute gift. VCU is coming off an emotional win, and Richmond is going to be jacked up given that it’s senior night and the place is going to be packed.
The Spiders have been a tough home team all season long and have covered four of their last five at home. The home team is also 7-1 ATS in the last eight meetings between these two teams.
Don’t be surprised if the Spiders win outright, but I’ll gladly take the free points when I can get them.
