The Houston Cougars head to UCF Arena to face the Central Florida Knights in the season finale' for both teams.
Houston has really risen from the ashes (actually not that bad) to forge a winning record and with a win in their final conference game reach .500 in the AAC which is quite an accomplishment. The Cougars can thank a four game winning streak for their success after they held off South Florida 78-69 on Tuesday. The Bulls connected at 48% but even that paled next to the Cougars 55% ans 12-23 effort on threes. Danuel House was the offensive star with 17 points, nine boards and five helpers with LJ Rose and Jherrod Stiggers tossing in 16 an 15 points.

It's obviously too late for Central Florida to make an upward move in the conference in time for the playoffs because they are where they are now. Perhaps a season ending win will give the team some momentum and erase the bad taste in their mouth left by their 86-78 overtime defeat at Temple on Tuesday. There wasn't much more the offense could have done aside from a costly 19 turnovers as they sank half their looks and were 11-23 from long range. Calvin Newell carried the scoring with 23 points with Kasey Wilson netting 14 followed by Matt Williams and Tristan Spurlock with a combined 20 points.
My take on this is Houston is the best of the lower half of the conference but that doesn't always mean much sometimes. I will back them as the hotter team and a .500 league record on the line...
