The San Jose State Spartans will have one last chance to earn a victory when they host the Fresno State Bulldogs on Saturday. When these teams played on February 8, the Bulldogs won 82-56.
The Bulldogs have won seven of their last nine games and are looking like a sleeper heading into the postseason. However, they are coming off a poor performance in a loss to San Diego State in which they allowed the Aztecs to shoot 60 percent from the field. Offensively, they’re averaging 72.6 points on 45.7 percent shooting in their last five games. And while they have improved their play, they’re still just 4-10 SU on the road this season. Against the spread, they are 16-11-1 overall and 9-4-1 on the road.

The Spartans have won only one game in their last 17 tries. It’s tough to even make this stuff up. On the season, they’re averaging 61.9 points on 37.4 percent shooting and are allowing 72 points on 43.6 percent shooting. 10 of their last 12 losses have been decided by double digits. The Spartans just can’t do anything right on either side of the ball. At home, they average 58.9 points and allow 65.8 points. They are 11-15-1 ATS overall and 3-6-1 ATS at home.
I was thinking of backing the Spartans considering the chalk and the fact it’s their last home game, but I just can’t do it. The Spartans have shown little signs of life throughout the entire season, while the Bulldogs have improved their confidence and their play over the last month.
Fresno State is 9-1 ATS in its last 10 games overall, while San Jose State is 2-8-1 ATS in its last 11 games.
Do we really need to break this down any further?
