The VCU Rams hope to end their regular season on a four-game winning streak when they host the St. Bonaventure Bonnies.
The Bonnies have lost three straight and five of their last eight games. They’re usually a solid defensive team, but have been anything but as of late, as they’re allowing 77 points on 50 percent shooting in their last five games. Those numbers are at 69.7 points on 44 percent shooting on the season. Offensively, they’re averaging 75 points on 46.4 percent shooting. On the road, they average 73.3 points and give up 73.9 points. They are 14-13 ATS overall and 7-8 ATS on the road.

The Rams know it’s tournament time, and they’re playing like it down the home stretch. In their last five matchups, they’re scoring 69 points on 39.6 percent shooting and are allowing 63.2 points on 39.9 percent shooting. That Havoc Defense has held its last two opponents to 56 or less points. At home, the Rams average 78.2 points and allow 61.9 points. They are 14-13-1 ATS overall and 6-6 ATS at home.
I’m not sure there’s any reason to jump off the VCU bandwagon at this point. The Rams have covered in four straight home games and are 4-1-1 ATS in their last six games overall. Meanwhile, the Bonnies have failed to cover their last four games and have had much of their struggles take place on the road.
The Rams know this is the time of year when they turn up the pressure and start playing elite basketball. That’s exactly what they’ve been doing for the most part and should have little trouble covering the chalk in their final home game of the season.
Give me VCU, please.
