The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Michigan State Spartans face off on Saturday in Columbus in Big Ten college basketball.
The Ohio State Buckeyes have lost their last two games and though both of those were on the road they were against inferior opponents. Ohio State is 9-8 in the Big Ten, 16-3 at home, and 2-3 against teams ranked in the top 25. LaQuinton Ross is the Buckeyes leading scorer averaging 14.6 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. The Michigan State Spartans are coming off of a win that ended a two game losing streak but they have stumbled down the stretch. MSU is 12-5 in the Big Ten and 11-3 away from home this home this season. Gary Harris is averaging 17.7 points per game to lead the Spartans. Adreian Payne is averaging 15.8 and 7.5 rebounds, Keith Appling is averaging 13.2 points, and Denzel Valentine is averaging 8.3 points and 6.2 rebounds. Michigan State is averaging 76.5 points and they are shooting 47.3 percent while defensively they are allowing 65.7 points and their opponents are shooting 40 percent. Michigan State seems to be a big factor every March.
Ohio State is 2-5 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the point spread, 5-2 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 3-8 against the spread following a loss. Michigan State is 8-2 against the spread in their last 10 road games, 1-5 against the spread following a win, and 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 Sunday games. The underdog is 7-2-1 against the spread in the last 10 meetings of these two.
My free pick in this one is going to be on the total sand at 129.5 I am going with the over. My stronger play is on who will cover the spread and I will post that pick in the Premium Area as well as the App.
