The Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners and East Carolina Pirates will meet Tuesday night in a C-USA Tournament showdown. These teams met back on February 8, and the Pirates won 81-71.
The Roadrunners head into this matchup on a five-game losing streak and losers in nine of their last 10 games. On the season, they average 67.9 points on 41.7 percent shooting and allow 78.2 points on 47.7 percent shooting. It goes without saying their defense has been their downfall all year, as they allowed 80 or more points in 12 games. Offensively, they’re led by two upperclassmen guards in Devon Agusi and Keon Lewis, who combine for 23.6 points and five assists. The Roadrunners are 7-14 ATS overall.

The Pirates have also been shaky, losing four of their last seven games to finish the season. They average 70.6 points on 43.2 percent shooting and are allowing 71.7 points on 45.8 percent shooting. They’re led by senior guard Akeem Richmond, who averages 17.9 points and shoots 38.7 percent from beyond the arc. The Pirates strength is their free throw shooting at 72.9 percent, while their weakness would be their 29.4 rebounds per game. They are 9-12-3 ATS overall.
The Pirates are 4-1-1 ATS in their last six games overall, while the Roadrunners are 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. Neither team has been all that hot, but the Roadrunners haven’t been able to cover the number to save their life all season. The Pirates have at least shown some sign of life and just beat the Roadrunners by 10 points a month ago.
East Carolina is by far the better team and doesn’t really beat itself with sloppy play at either end of the court.
Take the Pirates to advance and to cover the chalk.
