The Howard Bison and North Carolina A&T Aggies square off in a MEAC opening round tilt.
Howard had their shot at moving up the MEAC standings befor a season ending 2-9 run put an end to those hopes. The Bison performed reasonably well defensively with 71 point allowed but the offense didn't hold up their end of the bargain with only 62 points on less then 39% shooting. Many times getting out of the 50's proved to be a tough task and you are not going to win when the offense puts up those numbers. The botoom line here is who is going to help James Daniel (21.7 ppg) and Prince Okoroh (14 ppg) and if the answer is nobody the Bison have problems.

North Carolina A&T are almost a clone of Howard except they score a few more points and give up a few more. The Aggies also finished the regular season on a 2-9 run with neither end of the floor looking particularly fearsome. Similar to Howard we have a teams needs more offensive fire power or suddenly become a shutdown defense and I see neither happening in time to make a deep run in to the conference tourney. In my view it will be the offense that needs to come up big which comes down to the duo Lamar Middleton and Richaud Pack who average 17 points apiece but Middleton can't shoot at 33%.
Both teams were 2-9 to end the season abd own +300 strength of schedules so if I pick the winner I would be verry happy and fortunate at the same time. I'm going with the Aggies but betting this is trully gambling...
