Grambling State and Jackson State lock horns in a SWAC opening round game on Tuesday night.
The good news for Grambling is the team picked up three conference wins in the last month. The bad news is their 3-15 record was still last as the Tigers were never able to get both ends of the floor pointed in the right direction as they were outscored 80-65. I don't think the team can make enough adjustments and put them in to play in the postseason but an off night by an opponent and a good one by them and anything is possible. If the Tigers do have a shot, the duo of A'Torri Shine (14 ppg) and Antwan Scott (16 ppg) have to be at the top of their game and get help.

While I don't believe in excuses I look at Jackson State's record and can't help but think they should have won many more games but it seems as if JSU and close games was like mixing oil and water. The Tigers were fortunate to score in the mid 60's in losses but give the defense 70 points to work with and we have a competitive team. That happens to be the key to success in the postseason; score 70+ points and uou can definitely win some games. Julysses Noble (15 ppg) has to have a brilliant postseason for the Tigers to enjoy an extended stay but the key might be Brandon West who averages a double, double.
Jackson State swept the season series from Grambling by an average of 20 points so my thinking a spread under double figures should be manageable...
