The Boston University Terriers and the American U Eagles battle for the Patriot League championship Wednesday.
Second seed American has been putting the defensive clamps on the opposition the entire year and that trend has carried over to the playoffs with 96 points allowed in two games. Holy Cross could not score on American in a 57-46 defeat with an 18 point second half doing them in. The Eagles didn't light up the scoreboard with 44% shooting but didn't need to with the Crusaders held to 38% shooting and getting outscored 10-2 at the line. Jesse Reed led the scoring with 18 points with Kade Kager and Darius Gardner netting ten points each and combining for nine pulls.

Boston University won the regular season Patriot League title in their first year after coming over from the America East. If there was any doubt about the Terriers heading in to the postseason they were removed by a pair of routs capped off by a 91-70 victory over Army in the semifinals. It was too much of everything with the Terriers firing away at nearly 59% while holding the Black Knights to 42% and forcing 17 turnovers. DJ Irving paced the BU attack with 20 points followed Dom Morris and Malik Thomas with 16 and 15 points with Thomas grabbing seven boards. John Papale tossed in another 14 and Maurice Watson Jr. contributed ten points and handed out 17 assists.
Boston U is on a roll so the question is whether one of the top defensive teams in the game can slow them down. Maybe but I'm not betting that will happen versus a teamm capable of winning in the Big Dance...
