The Miami of Ohio Red Hawks and Ohio Bobcats will square off in the second round of the MAC Tournament on Wednesday. The Bobcats swept the regular season series.
The Red Hawks won their first round meeting, 71-64 against Kent State. Four of their five starters scored in double figures, while the defense forced 17 turnovers. The Red Hawks average 65.7 points on 44.2 percent shooting and allow 70.1 points on 46.5 percent shooting. However, the defense has stepped up lately, allowing no more than 64 points in four of their last six games. They are 16-12 ATS overall this season.

The Bobcats won their first round matchup 76-64 against Ball State. In the victory, they shot 52 percent from the field, had 18 assists on 26 made baskets and forced 15 Cardinals’ turnovers. On the season, the Bobcats average 71.4 points on 45.8 percent shooting and allow 67 points on 41.1 percent shooting. The defense really leads the way for this team, as they also hold opponents to just 30.9 percent shooting from beyond the arc. The Bobcats are 13-13 ATS overall.
In the first meeting, Ohio won 82-75, but the last meeting took place four days ago and needed overtime to be decided, which Ohio still won 82-76.
The Red Hawks are 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a SU win and are 1-6 ATS in their last seven following an ATS win. The Bobcats are 4-1 ATS in their last five games played on a neutral site and 1-5 ATS in their last six games following a SU win. The Red Hawks are 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings between these two teams, and the underdog 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings.
Although this is a rivalry and a tournament game, Ohio’s defense and size will prove to be too much for the Red Hawks once again.
