The McNeese State Cowboys and Oral Roberts Golden Eagles will play Wednesday night in the first round of the Southland Tournament. When these teams played on February 1, McNeese State won 79-68.
The Cowboys built some confidence heading into the tournament by winning four of their last six games. On the season, they average 67 points on 39 percent shooting and allow 76.3 points on 45.2 percent shooting. They’re led by senior guard Ledrick Eackles, who averages 17.5 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists. Without him the Cowboys would be dead in the water, as he’s scored 20 or more points in five of his last six games. The main strength for the Cowboys are their 36.6 rebounds. They are 1-2 ATS overall.

The Golden Eagles have been playing some of their best basketball lately, winning six of their last nine games. On the season, they’re averaging 72 points on 46.2 percent shooting and allow 70.2 points on 44 percent shooting. There’s not much depth to this team at all, as Shawn Glover and Korey Billbury combine for 36.7 points by themselves. As a team, they average 35.4 rebounds, shoot 72.5 percent from the free throw line and 36.2 percent from beyond the arc. The Golden Eagles 2-1 ATS overall this season.
The Cowboys are 5-2 ATS in their last seven conference games but just 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The Golden Eagles are 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall and 1-6 ATS in their last seven games against teams with a losing SU record.
Despite the Cowboys winning the earlier meeting, it’s quite clear the Golden Eagles are the better team in this matchup.
However, there's simply too much chalk in this game for my taste. Expect the Cowboys to keep this game close.
