The Utah Utes and the Washington Huskies face off on Wednesday in Las Vegas in a first round matchup in the Pac-12 Tournament.
The Utah Utes finished tied for eighth place in the Pac-12 and but they played the lightest overall schedule in the conference and didn’t get it done away from home. Utah was 9-9 in Pac-12 play and 2-8 in games played away from home. Delon Wright leads the Utes averaging 16.1 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. Jordan Loveridge is averaging 15.1 points and 7.2 rebounds, Brandon Taylor is averaging 10.9 points, and Dakarai Tucker is averaging 6.8 points. Utah is averaging 77.2 points and they are shooting 49.7 percent while defensively they are allowing 64 points and their opponents are shooting 40.8 percent. Utah played well down the stretch but it is going to probably take a Pac-12 Tournament Championship to make the NCAA Tournament.

The Washington Huskies won three of their last four games to close out the season but that gave them and eighth place finish in the Pac-12. UW is 9-9 in the Pac-12 and 3-10 in games played away from home. C.J. Wilcox leads the Huskies averaging 18.5 points per game. Nigel Williams-Goss is averaging 13.3 points, Andrew Andrews is averaging 12.6 points, and Perris Blackwell is averaging 10.5 points and 6.9 rebounds. Washington is averaging 74.9 points and they are shooting 44.9 percent while defensively they are allowing 74.9 points and their opponents are shooting 47.5 percent. Washington was 7-11 against team s with a RPI better than 100.
Utah is 20-8-1 against the spread against the Pac-12, 22-10 against the spread following a loss, and 35-14-2 against the spread against a team with a winning record. Washington is 4-1 against the spread following a loss and 1-4 against the spread in their last five neutral site games. The underdog has covered the point spread in four of the last five meetings of these two.
Washington is traditionally a strong tournament team and getting them with this many points, even though Utah has played well recently, looks to be the play.
