The Cal Golden Bears and the Colorado Buffaloes face off on Thursday in Las Vegas as the Pac-12 Men’s College Basketball Tournament.
The Cal Golden Bears finished the season tied for third place in the standings which was good enough to give them a bye in the first round of the tournament. California is 10-8 in the Pac-12 and 6-8 in games played away from home. Justin Cobbs leads the Bears averaging 15.6 points and 5.8 assists per game. David Kravish is averaging 11.3 points and 7.7 rebounds, Tyrone Wallace is averaging 11.3 points, and Richard Solomon is averaging 11.2 points and 10.0 rebounds. Cal is averaging 72.9 points and they are shooting 45.2 percent while defensively they are allowing 69.8 points and their opponents are shooting 41.9 percent. The Colorado Buffaloes also finished in third place in the Pac-12 but they had to play a first round tournament game but took care of business against USC. Colorado is 11-8 in the Pac-12 and 5-8 in games played away from home. Josh Scott leads the Buffaloes averaging 14.5 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. Askia Booker is averaging 13.7 points, Xavier Johnson is averaging 12.2 points and 6.0 rebounds, and Wesley Gordon is averaging 6.1 points and 6.3 rebounds. Colorado is averaging 72.5 points and they are shooting 44 percent while defensively they are allowing 68.9 points and their opponents are shooting 42.9 percent. Colorado looks to be over the hump and in the NCAA Tournament.
Cal is 1-4 against the spread following a win, 0-6 against the spread in their last six games, and 1-4 against the spread following a win. Colorado is 1-4-1 against the spread in their last six neutral site games, 1-5 against the spread in their last six Thursday games, and 5-1 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the spread. Colorado has covered the point spread in eight of the last nine meetings of these two.
This is a tough one and I see playing yesterday helping Colorado here enough to get the win.
