The Florida State Seminoles play the Maryland Terps in the second round of the ACC tournament on Thursday afternoon.
The Florida State Seminoles dropped to 18-12, 9-9 ACC after losing at home to Syracuse 74-58 on Sunday. On the year, sophomore Aaron Thomas leads the Seminoles with 14.1 points per game. Okaro White is averaging a second-best 13.3 points per game while also averaging a team-high 6.6 rebounds per contest. Senior Ian Miller is averaging 13.7 points per game as well and he also averages a team-high 3 assists per game. The Seminoles average 71.2 points per game while shooting an impressive 46.5% from the field as a team this season. Florida State is an average rebounding team at best, pulling down 34.9 boards per game. Despite the Seminoles losing six out of their last eleven games; Florida State finally won three games in a row in conference play with the win over Boston College last week before losing to Syracuse on Sunday. Florida State is 5-4 on the road in conference play and 3-1 on neutral courts this season.

The Maryland Terps improved to 17-14, 9-9 ACC after beating Virginia at home 75-69 in overtime on Sunday afternoon. On the season, the Terps are led by Dez Wells, who is averaging a team-high 14.8 points per game. Seth Allen is averaging a second-best 13.2 points per game along with a team-high 3 assists per game. Charles Mitchell is averaging 6.7 points per game and a team-high 6.4 rebounds per contest. The Terps are shooting 43.1% from the field while averaging 71.1 points per game as a team this season. Maryland is one of the better rebounding teams in the ACC, averaging just over 37.9 boards per game. Despite the huge win over Virginia on Sunday; Maryland has lost seven out of their last thirteen games overall. The Terps are a miserable 2-7 on the road against conference opponents and 3-1 on neutral courts this season.
Florida State and Maryland both won their home games against one another this season. Florida State dominated Maryland at home, while Maryland won comfortably at home in early February. The Seminoles have been inconsistent all year despite having a talented roster with plenty of potential. Maryland has some great talent as well and this will be there last ACC tournament before heading to the Big Ten next year. I think the Terps will have a letdown after beating Virginia on Sunday and I’m going to back the Seminoles on Thursday.
