The Houston Cougars shoot for another upset in the AAC playoffs when they face the Louisville Cardinals.
Houston was the best team of the lower half of the AAC and put up a fight against some of the bigger names but none was bigger then their 68-64 victory over Southern Methodist in the AAC playoff opener. Things didn't start off good with the Mustangs up nine at the break but the Cougars dominated both ends of the floor over the final 20 minutes. UH won the shooting battle 44%-40% that added up to five more field goals with 9-6 edge on threes playing a pivitol role. Jherrod Stiggers tossed in a game high 19 points with LJ Rose next in line with 16 points followed by TaShawn Thomas and Danuel House with 14 and eleven points and 14 boards.

I don't know if Louisville will win back to back National Championships but based on their tournament opener I wouldn't bet against them. There have been a view times every year when I sit back and say 'wow what a one sided butt kicking that was'. I can honestly say their 92-31 destruction of Rutgers Thursday should have been called early with UL leading by 42 at the half. The Cardinals sank shots at 45.7% and held Rutgers to a mere 24% while forcing 26 turnovers which added up to 20 more looks at the basket. Chris Jones led the scoring spree with 18 points followed by Russ Smith and Terry Rozier with 16 and 14 points while Luke Hancock and Montrezl Harrell netted 13 points each.
Pretty simple here...if Louisville plays like they did Thursday 40 points won't be enough for Houston. Zero interest in this one because the Cardinals could do it again...
