The East Carolina Pirates take the hardwood with the Wright State Raiders in opening round CIT action.
This was supposed to be Wright State's year to shine in the Horizon but a mid season skid where they dropped four of five did them in and third place became their final resting spot. Milwaukee ended the Raiders postseason and a six game winning streak but through it all a 20 win campaign and CIT invite is not too bad. Wright State scores 67 points and allows 62 and seldom is involved in blowouts, for or against. The Raiders generally control the tempo and will try to control East Carolina and if they do then AJ Pacher (11 ppg) and score by committee attack have to provide the offense although it's painful to watch at times.

East Carolina never really righted the ship the entire 2013-14 season with a few wins in a row about the hottest this team got. The Pirates outscored the opposition 73-70 but I'm not sure thes numbers are true indicators of either end of the floor was because there were some big swings at times which can be partially attributed to being in a 16 team conference and the multiple styles. I would say the key for ECU against Wright state would be to push the score as high as possible and make the Raiders play from behind. That also means Akeem Richmond (18 ppg) has to be able to score because points could be at a premium.
I'm looking for consistency first when picking apart a match up and Wright State is the definition of the word. They never deviate far from the course and I like that here...
