The Mount St Mary's Mountaineers face the Albany Great Danes in an NCAA play in game Tuesday.
Mount St. Mary's got hot at the right time and that was in the NEC tourney where they upset regular season champion Robert Morris 88-71 which was the way they had to perform and that means score points because defense isn't their expertise. The Mountaineers will need to lean on their offense to make noise in the Big Dance or hope first round opponent doesn't make shots. Offense might not be a worry with the team scoring 72 points or more in four straight with Rashad Whack and Julian Norfleet averaging 17 points each to give the Mountaineers two very solid scoring options.

Albany received the automatic NCAA berth by winning the America East tournament via a 69-60 victory over second seed Stony Brook where they hit 18 straight free throws. The Great Danes had perhaps the toughest road to the conference crown by knocking off top dog Vermont as well and winning the title on the Seawolves home floor. The defense first Great Danes outscored the opposition 66-64 which means they need to control the pace and make shots which is important against first round opponent Mount St. Mary's who can light up the scoreboard. If the defense manages to keep things in the half court then star guard Peter Hooley has to match or exceed his 15.7 point average.
Whichever team controls the tempo probably wins this and as a lover of defense I automatically look at Albany. The lower the score the better...
