The Illinois State Redbirds host round one of the CBI when the Morehead State Eagles visit.
Name recognition in the Missouri Valley these days doesn't go much futher then Wichita State, but Illinois State was in there too. The Redbirds were part of a three way tie for fourth at 9-9 that struggled to separate themselves from the rest of the pack at times. The Redbirds scored and allowed 69 points and were bumped from the postseason in a five point loss to Missouri State which saddled the team with defeats in three of four. In their losses the offense struggled for consistency which can't happen versus the dangerous offense of Morehead State. The key is to keep the scoreboard at around 70 and hope a trio of DD scorers led by Daishon Knight (13 ppg) step up.

There were times in 2013-14 that Morehead State looked like a challenger in the Ohio Valley and there were times they looked ordinary at best. The Eagles managed to finish fourth at 10-6 with 20 wins and actually could be very exciting to watch with their very good offense that averaged 76 points. The issue was at the defensive end where opponents shot 45% from the floor and scored 73 points although neither were consitent to end the year with the team dropping three of four including a loss to Belmont in the postseason. The Eagles will likely need a full 40 minute effort offensively to beat Illinois State while the D can't dissapear and give up 80.
Let me start by saying Morehead State was capable of beating any team in the OVC if they showed up the entire game and are capable of winning here. The question is do we get 40 minutes or 35 because they will get killed if we see 35...
