Instate rivals the Cleveland State Vikings and the Ohio Bobcats butt heads in a CIT first round contest.
I would classify Cleveland State as a close but no cigar team as they finished second in the Horizon at 12-4 but had to settle for the CIT when I'm sure they thought the NCAA's were within their grasp. It wasn't meant to be despite winning ten of eleven to end the year as the Vikings fell in their playoff opener to Wright State. Few teams could defend and score like this squad but in these mid majors there simply is no second shance with only one invitation for the Big Dance. There is nothing special the Vikings need to do at either end of the floor except to do what they have been doing. Bryn Forbes leads three other DD scorers with nearly 16 points so for the offense it's a question of who else is stepping up.

Ohio has enjoyed a few almost care free seasons where things simply went in their favor more often then not but that wasn't the case in 2013-14. The Bobcats were involved in many close games and were inconsistent as well with a few dramatic comebacks while also squandering a few big leads. Having said that how bad can things really be when you win 23 games? Of course nemesis Akron came back from a double figure deficit to eliminate them in the postseason quarterfinals but that has been the normm when those teams play. In my view Ohio has to avoid the peaks and valleys and they will succeed. Play good defense and give the ball to Nick Kellogg (15.7 ppg) and Maurice Ndour (14 pg) as often as possible and all will be good.
Very little seperating these teams except Ohio has the home court edge. This one simply comes down to which team is going to make plays over 40 minutes but is really more of an opinion...
